Brooksby Melton College has a rich heritage as a leading provider of agricultural training and education in the East Midlands. In the past few years, Brooksby Melton College has invested a lot of money and time in developing the college with the latest technology. This includes new workshops with all the latest tools and equipment needed to complete a high-quality apprenticeship.
Generations of students have benefited from Brooksby's hands-on experience of every aspect of farming, crop and animal production on its 850-acre site. This also goes for the apprentices that attend the college with Grimme UK.
Grimme is proud of its technician apprenticeship programme, which it operates in conjunction with Brooksby Melton College. As part of this programme engineering apprentices are actively involved in every aspect of potato crop establishment. This year Grimme UK along with Deutz-Fahr UK supplied all the equipment necessary to plant a field of potatoes. As part of these planting days, students were shown how to setup, operate and maintain the planting equipment correctly. Students will get to see how the crop progresses and will also get the opportunity to harvest the crop later in the year.
Grimme believes that giving apprentices learning opportunities like this are not only vital to their growth and success but also a key part of its investment to sustain the future of the business.
